JIMMIE REIGN
Bay native Jimmie Reign has quickly gained a fan base by opening shows for well known artists (Goapele, Jagged Edge, Latoya London, Eric Roberson), her reputation became that of a young woman who was all about business on stage. Now with a more mature sound and way of thinking, Jimmie wants to expand from the Bay Area to beyond. Tirelessly working at her craft and balancing motherhood at the same time would make some want to give up- Jimmie says it only makes her stronger. An exciting live show, a powerhouse voice, and striking looks have earned Jimmie the right to be called a complete package.
SAKE 1
Born and raised in the culture of hip-hop, DJ SAKE-1 has been looking for the perfect beat since 1989. A founding member of California’s (((Local 1200))) Sound System, DJ SAKE-1 has utilized a combination of advanced science and Bay Area hustle to genetically alter the hip-hop idiom into a 360 degree circle of soul. You can find DJ SAKE-1 kickin’ up dust and making 5,000-person venues feel like neighborhood house parties from San Francisco to New York City to Atlanta to London and beyond….
DJ SAKE-1 has humbly Served the People as resident DJ at legendary parties such as: Church; Fabric; Soulville; Candy House; Luscious; Oakland Reggae; FeelGood; Unify! and many, many more. He presently resides at the groundbreaking Pacific Standard Time weekly that has proven to be one of the Bay’s most music-forward events.
PROOF
Quiet as kept, San Francisco’s PROOF is one of the West Coast’s elite, throwing game-changing events with his Massive Selector brethren and spinning all over the place with the hottest selections. Heavily influenced by classic funk, deep soul, hip-hop, and house, PROOF’s sound definitely caters to the dancefloor. His mix CD’s, known for their global flavor and crossing genres seamlessly, have created quite a buzz with music lovers.
SHRED ONE
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sheila Red aka Shred One was constantly surrounded and heavily influenced by music at a very young age as she tagged along with her vinyl collecting brothers and cousins. She moved to Brooklyn, NY in ‘98 where she began collecting her own records and fell in love with the art of deejaying, as well as learning the music industry game working at Rawkus Records and Blacksmith Management. She began spinning out when she moved back to Los Angeles in 2004 and rocked parties like the infamous Root Down and Soul Sessions. Now residing in SF, she has since played alongside cutting edge artists such as Daz-i-Kue, 45 King, Talib Kweli, Exile, DJ Spinna and more. You can find her spinning soul, hip hop, funk, disco, boogie, house, and more
HAYLOW
The L.A. native that has diligently contributed to the one and only Distortion 2 Static as both a DJ and journalist. A true historian of quality hip hop that has been blessing the scene with his diverse selection of videos during his live video sets.

Blu and Mainframe, who’ve been killing it on the underground scene over the last couple of years, celebrate the official launch of their new label, New World Color. New World Color is a multidimensional entertainment company that John Barnes (Blu) and Jon Ancheta (Mainframe) created. “It’s basically an outlet for us to release our art & products that we create through our own channel, using our acquired sources, in our preferred environment at our own time & pace.” In celebration of the NWC launch Blu and Mainframe released their first music video “DISCO D.Y.N.A.M.I.T.E.” earlier this year.
DAVINCI (swtbrds)
To also bless the stage is San Francisco’s own DaVinci. The Fillmore resident released his debut album The Day the Turf Stood Still under the Swtbrds label and has set different goals than the typical emcee. DaVinci’s music resonates with the authenticity of life experiences. “The Day The Turf Stood Still is the soundtrack for gentrification and urban renewal,” says DaVinci. “I want to capture the mental state of generations of minorities struggling to preserve and revitalize the last breath of culture we have.”
FREDDIE JOACHIM (organology)
Freddie Joachim (pronounced “JO-AH-KIM”), began his music career as a DJ in 1996. He started out as a mobile DJ in his hometown of San Diego, and for a while spent much of his time focused on being a battle DJ/turntablist. Since then, Freddie has become a DJ that spins and listens to an eclectic mix of genres, with a strong focus on hip-hop and jazz. In 2001, Freddie turned his focus to recording and production.
In the Spring of 2008, Freddie released his first full-length album in Japan entitled, “In With Time,” featuring artists such as Aloe Blacc (Stones Throw), Blu, Muneshine (Wax Reform), Choice37, Lauren Santiago, Profile (The Upstarts/The Sound Providers), Surreal, Othello, Son of Ran and others. In 2009, Freddie released the instrumental album “Study Guide” with longtime friend and fellow producer Question, which was released by Japan’s renowned DJ Tonk on his label Milkdipper.

BOOGIE BROWN (The Formula | Getlive)
Hailing from the city of San Francisco, Boogie Brown started DJing back in 1989. Since then, he’s been on his grind starting out doing mobile gigs in high school; to his college radio show, “Wild Style Wednesdays”, at Cal State Hayward; to rocking nightclubs in the Bay Area and beyond; and now onto producing mixtapes. DJing and hip hop has been a passion that he has pursued on stage and behind the scenes. He learned the ropes of the business aspect of DJing and organizing events while at Hype! Bookings and Management Agency. Since then, he’s been involved with throwing some of San Francisco’s hottest parties with his crews The Formula and Get Live SF. Currently, you can catch him playing anything from hip hop, dancehall, soul, roots reggae, and breaks in numerous night clubs and lounges in the Bay Area and coast to coast. Recently jumping into the mixtape game, his mixed CD’s “Dedicated” and “Legends of Soul” have created quite a buzz, garnering accolades from some of hip hop’s biggest names.

these two have been innovating their way through the Bay’s Hip-Hop scene for quite sometime. its almost like’ “finally!” when we got the opportunity to get them on Listening Lounge. the first ever female DJ team to compete in the DMC in its entire 20 year lifespan. they have done much to keep the wheels of the Bay’s turntablist heritage moving and growing including their party Skratchpad which was an “open mic” for DJs to flex their chops and just build with each other. they created a true hub for the community. plus: they will be performing their 2 x 4 set at Listening Lounge. true future hall of famers!

well beloved, we survived the ’09 and we’ve might’ve lost quite a few a long the way, but now here comes our new year. our fresh start. whether your 2009 was full of laughs or full of tears, theres one thing we learn over and over again, you can never call it. so for 2010, lets throw away our resolutions and expectations and do the one thing we know we can do for sure: keep it movin’–ON & ON!
so in memory of all, and who, we’ve lost in 2009, join Distortion 2 Static & the Reignforest Collective as we claim 2010 as ours for the taking! And we’re hitting this new year even stronger than we did last year. last year’s ON & ON was so bananas, so this year to top that we’re flying in our good friend from NY to help us get up and over. its ON & ON: 2010.
Neil’s a hard guy to keep up with. but whether he’s in Beijing for the Olympics, or in London rockin’ with Jay-Z and Coldplay, he always makes time for his fam in the Bay, especially if its to start off the year right, with the right people, in the right city. back from Australia, straight off his international tour, lets welcome Neil back to the Bay the way he deserves, PROPER!
